Adjudication has changed the way in which the construction industry deals with its disputes. The growing number of contested decisions and the resulting judgments handed down by the courts require a thorough understanding of the ground rules.

In reality, however, many firms have limited experience of adjudication and do not have the in-house knowledge to enable them to mount - or defend - an adjudication effectively. This is a dangerous position to be in - particularly if you are on the receiving end of a referral notice and have only a matter of days in which to assemble your defence.

We have been involved in a great many adjudications and have become highly experienced in the procedures, the tactics, and the law of adjudication. Matthew Bastone is a practicing adjudicator on the panels of the RICS, the RIBA, the CIArb, CEDR and the AICA and has been nominated on more than 180 occasions to date.
